The Premise

A regular woman reincarnates into a fantasy world and finds out she’s not the chosen one, just a side character. Filmina Veer Adina used to be a nearly-thirty Japanese woman who died fighting a purse snatcher, and she wakes up in a sword-and-sorcery kingdom as the daughter of a minor noble house. A demon king is back, the country is shaky, and a hero from the countryside has just pulled the holy sword from its sheath. Here’s the catch: Filmina realizes early on that none of this makes her special, and the story she’s telling is really about how she ended up engaged to the kingdom’s chief wizard, one of the hero’s own party members.

The Protagonist & Stakes

Filmina is an ordinary adult stuck in a child’s body, and her attempts to act like a prodigy with magical books and swords just get her scolded by her wet nurse. At seven she meets Agedilus, a skinny, silent boy with jet black hair, which signals huge magical power, and she slowly earns his trust by reading with him until he lets her call him “Edi”. Then she asks to see a flame beast from an advanced book, and his magic goes out of control. She takes the burns on her back to protect him, and the scars never heal. Because a spirit’s burns make her a bad marriage prospect, her popular life ends, and the boy she saved becomes her fiancé.
