Chapter 855: Chapter 280: Deluxe Service, Liu Bi’s Surprise! (2)
Walking away from the riverbank and deeper in, you’ll find the central area of Dapo Town.
This area is planned as the functional core of the entire town, with various governmental institutions set to be concentrated here in the future.
However, for now, Dapo Town isn’t at a stage where it needs these institutions, so a bunch of buildings have only had their foundations laid; the main structures have yet to be constructed, and building materials are neatly stacked on the ground, waiting for the next steps to proceed according to plan.
Further north, beyond the riverbank’s influence, lies Dapo Town’s public facilities area, also the service hub of the entire town.
Currently, two three-story buildings have been completed; one has a sign over its entrance reading “Supply and Sale Station,” while the other reads “Dapo Medical Station.” These are perfectly visible from afar, meeting the town’s initial basic service needs.
Further north from the public facilities area is the residential zone.
This area is sufficiently distant from the riverbank, so even if Infected Bodies break through the walls and rush in, residents will have enough buffer time to evacuate or organize defense.
The modular prefabricated houses in the residential zone are planned with great order.
The west side consists of six rows of ten columns of spacious dormitories, totaling sixty rooms, each accommodating fifty people, filling them completely allows for a total capacity of 3,000 people.
Each prefabricated house is separated by a two-meter wide path for easy passage and daily management, and the outermost area is enclosed by a simple iron fence for preliminary protection.
The east side, in contrast, contains forty independent family homes, forming a separate residential area.
Unlike the dense dormitories, the spacing between the family homes is much larger, and after being fenced, spaces for residents to engage in activities appear to be intentionally left inside.
Unfortunately, the distance is too far, making it hard to see the details clearly.
Liu Bi didn’t have to keep observing for long as a few agile figures sprinted from the direction of the town towards them.
“This master looks unfamiliar?”
With a broad grin, Hou Genbao approached the lead truck, leaned in and asked, “Is this your first time delivering to Dapo Town?”
“Huh?” Niu Fu in the driver’s seat paused slightly, then couldn’t help but laugh, “How did you know it’s my first time here?”
“To be honest, any driver who’s been to our Dapo Town, I can remember them after just one meeting.”
Hou Genbao continued speaking, casting a glance at the trucks behind and instantly calling out names, “Master Zhang, Master Wei, Master Duan… All old acquaintances behind you.”
Hearing him accurately name the other drivers, Niu Fu nodded silently, maintaining a steady expression:
“The goods today are quite important, so we specifically came to escort and deliver them.”
“Understood!” Hou Genbao immediately raised his hand, pointing in the direction, “Just drive your truck into Warehouse No. 4; we’ve already arranged for workers to be ready to receive the cargo.”
From the town entrance to Warehouse No. 4, a huge space was left open, making it easy for the truck to back in.
Yet, before either had the chance to open the door and get off the truck, the warehouse’s rear door swung open, and forty young men quickly entered.
All wore simple shirts, with muscular arms that spoke of years of hard labor.
Shortly after, ten women walked in from the warehouse entrance, each carrying a clean towel and a cup filled with water.
As Liu Bi and Niu Fu jumped off the truck, the women approached with smiles, “You two have worked hard. Please wipe your sweat and have some water. It will take some time to unload this batch of goods; why don’t you rest in the lounge next door?”
“Additionally, we offer basic massage services to help you relax your back and waist.”
“Ah?” Liu Bi was somewhat stunned.
Instinctively, he turned his head to look at the other truck drivers disembarking one after the other, surprisingly finding them accepting towels and water cups with familiarity, chatting and laughing with the women before heading to the lounge, looking quite expectant, clearly accustomed to such treatment.
Wait a moment, hadn’t he heard before that when delivering to Dapo Town, drivers had to help unload, often to the point of exhaustion?
But the scene before him, where was the need for drivers to lift a finger?
Liu Bi silently wondered, yet didn’t refuse, following the others into the lounge.
The space inside was larger than he’d expected, equipped not only with beds for people to lie down and rest but also numerous rocking chairs, with a radio in the corner playing soothing music, exuding a sense of ease.
The drivers were originally leisurely chatting, but when they saw Liu Bi enter, their expressions momentarily turned awkward.
Only when Liu Bi swept his gaze over them and gave a slight nod did everyone quickly relax again.
“Please lie down on the bed!”
Following the instruction, Liu Bi lay on the bed, soon feeling a pair of coarse yet strong hands press down across his T-shirt.
Though the technique wasn’t quite professional, being somewhat hasty, after a few presses, the tight muscles on his back and waist indeed relaxed a lot, making him squint his eyes comfortably.
In his many adventures on the road, only those special Shelter Cities extremely reliant on commerce offered such treatment to drivers.
Never would he have thought that now, in Happiness City’s Dapo Town, he could enjoy this too!
The massage lasted for approximately ten minutes, after which the women quietly withdrew, leaving the lounge space empty.
What’s more surprising to Liu Bi was that this unremarkable prefabricated lounge was surprisingly soundproofed, with the noise from external construction completely isolated.
With the radio’s melodious music, the indoor atmosphere was calm and comfortable, allowing a momentary forgetfulness that this was the crisis-ridden Wasteland, and even more so, forgetting that this was a newly constructed, raw and tender emerging Satellite City.
