Chapter 854: Chapter 280: Deluxe Service, Liu Bi’s Surprise!
As one of the earliest members to join Cheng Long’s small group, Liu Bi does not deny his own role.
Combat and team leadership.
This is what he is best at and is also the most essential trait needed for an Inspector during the Great Expansion era.
Unfortunately, his glorious era ended too abruptly, so abruptly that he didn’t even have time to transition.
As the major Shelter Cities unexpectedly withdrew inward and stopped expanding outward, his two most proud skills instantly became nearly obsolete.
In the years that followed, Liu Bi had considered transitioning, but every member in the small group was a prodigy, each with talents beyond reach.
In terms of shrewd calculations, he couldn’t compare to Wang Cheng, Wang Kang’s father.
In terms of big-picture exploitation, he couldn’t match Xu Xing, who joined the group later.
Including Zhang Guan, Zhao Lingchuan… everyone had their unique talents and individual expertise.
Just as others couldn’t replicate the decisiveness and tacit understanding when he led a charge, catching up to their achievements in their specialized fields was like reaching for the stars.
But this doesn’t mean he’s completely out of his depth in other areas.
As an Inspector for Happiness City, he prides himself on being able to manage foundational tasks like constructing and pioneering, harboring and verification, staying steadily above average, and even holding his own against senior Inspectors from other Shelter Cities.
As the truck slowly started to decelerate at the town’s entrance, Liu Bi squinted and studied the overall layout of Dapo Town inch by inch.
The truck drivers who carried goods back and forth to Dapo Town were the first outsiders to come into contact with this emerging town.
Liu Bi loved to join the drivers during their dinners over the past days, asking everyone about their impressions of Dapo Town.
He had been asking around for half a month, sketching a preliminary image of Dapo Town in his mind.
Yet seeing it with his own eyes now, he couldn’t help but feel ripples of surprise surging within.
This planning is so organized!
Unlike other Satellite Cities that turn into a mess from the start, Dapo Town, despite all the vibrant traces of construction, showed not a hint of disorder.
Compared to its initial layout, Dapo Town has made an overall shift northward.
The town center moved away from the original riverside, relocated two kilometers from the riverbank and dock.
With this shift, the previously constrained development space suddenly opened up, no longer shackled by remnants of past planning and foundations, allowing for a more refined function zoning and construction blueprint.
Currently, Dapo Town’s road network has been entirely planned and built. Although the road surface hasn’t been paved yet, the overall structure is already formed.
The main road is six meters wide, designed as a two-way four-lane road, with well-defined tracks laid by compaction rollers, and a one-meter wide sidewalk reserved on each side, with manhole covers for the underground pipeline network lined up neatly.
Workers have already laid the foundations for street lamps along the roadside, one every fifteen meters, ready to light up Dapo Town’s nights once the power grid is connected.
The side roads extending from the main road divide the entire Dapo Town into several clearly defined functional zones.
The first to catch the eye is the wall under construction near the riverside.
Rebuilding civilization on the Wasteland where Infected Bodies roam, safety is always the top priority.
Although everyone knows how crucial the White Water River is to Dapo Town’s economy and development, no one dares to overlook the potential deadly threats lurking in the river, the Infected Bodies that could land at any moment, which hang over the town like a sword.
If intercepting facilities are not set up between the town and the riverbank, the entire Dapo Town could face an existential crisis once a strong infection source comes ashore.
Thus, the planning standards for this wall are extremely high, with a height of ten meters and a thickness of three meters, enough to withstand the impact of ordinary Fusion Bodies, acting as the first safety barrier facing the river for Dapo Town.
Behind the wall, guard towers are also being constructed in unison. These towers are attached to the concrete wall, with a distribution density of one every fifty meters in the town’s core area.
Any Infected Body that comes ashore will be detected immediately, only to face the fiercest counterattack.
Behind the wall, the area closest to the riverside has been divided into two parts.
The first zone after crossing the asphalt road into the town is Dapo Town’s storage area.
Four tin-shed warehouses are lined up orderly here, each fifty meters long and twenty meters wide, distributed in two rows side by side.
The warehouse walls have large ventilation openings reserved, and the loading docks at the entrances are already constructed, allowing trucks to drive directly inside to load and unload supplies without wasting time going around the town.
What’s more considerate, there are two mobile prefab rooms set up at the warehouse entrance, with the word “Rest Room” on the door, a place highly praised by the truck drivers.
Behind the storage area is Dapo Town’s industrial zone under hectic construction.
More than a dozen steel-structured factory buildings are neatly arranged, with factory walls made of thickened prefabricated panels, sturdy and able to be assembled quickly.
Most commendably, several material conveyor belts have been specially set up between the storage area and the industrial zone.
Workers only need to sort out the materials required by each factory in the warehouse, and they can be directly delivered to the corresponding factory via these conveyor belts, saving the trouble of manual transport.
Additionally, this way, materials don’t need to be piled in the factories causing chaos, making classification and organization much easier, and significantly improving production efficiency.
